This year’s Book Illustration Award - held by the Folio Society to celebrate their 75 year anniversary - offered aspiring and established illustrators an opportunity to provide one piece of artwork in response to the short story The Masque of the Red Death by Edgar Allan Poe.

My entry was created using vibrant colored inks and colored pencils. Showing the most dramatic scene from the story with many layers of meaning, I aimed to show my understanding of the narrative as well as bring a modern touch to this classical tale.
