Character Designs

A selection of characters inspired by chosen color palettes, created for illustration projects or sketched out on a particularly creative afternoon. Each and every one of these creatures comes with a story of their own and the different directions shown here are representative of a personal development in style over the years. For my creature designs I often take inspiration from folklore and fairytales. The character above for example, Lancle, was born after I read stories about gargoyles at medieval churches coming alive at night, guarding these sacred places. They’d often have wings and clawed feet to be able to charge at intruders. Lancle however turned out a rather kind one.
